Northbrae
Photo Studio
Berkeley CA | 2017
This former rear garage and office was transformed into a photography studio. A palate of light neutrals were chosen - white paint on the exposed rafters and walls, a dove gray polished concrete floor, white open cabinets and shelves, and a marble countertop with tall backsplash - while six new skylights flood in abundant natural light, filtered by gauzy fabric. The result is a spare but rich space that recedes into the background to allow the photographer's subject - food and the tools used to prepare it - to come to the fore.
